You can use it completely free of charge during the beta testing phase. We will cover the costs of the underlying AI model during this phase and continue to optimise the integration into ELITECAD based on user feedback. In accordance with the fair use principle, interactions with Luna are available to all users within a limited overall budget. If the limits are exceeded or the service is misused, we may temporarily block the AI integration for all users or permanently for specific licences. The traffic light colours used to indicate your token consumption per prompt in the AI chat window show you how many of your assigned monthly free tokens are left (red = <25%, yellow = 25–50%, green = 50–100%). The token balance is reset at the start of each calendar month. Please also note that, as part of the beta test, knowledge from the previous conversation will be reset when ELITECAD is restarted.

How to use the AI in ELITECAD
Get started with Luna in three simple steps:
Click on the Luna icon
From ELITECAD Architecture 17 R4 onwards, you will find the Luna icon at the top of the icon bar on the welcome screen. Alternatively, you can access Luna at any time from the window menu.
Read the security information
Before you can use Luna, please read the security information carefully. You will only be able to use Luna once you have confirmed that you have read and understood this important information.
Start a chat with Luna
Your AI sidekick is now ready to go. Tell Luna how you’d like it to help you, or feel free to ask who Luna is and how it can assist you with your planning. Let our AI assistant analyse a model or create a visualisation.
You're always in control
The decision is up to you
Freedom has always been central to ELITECAD. You are free to decide whether you want to use AI at all. If not, Luna is nothing more than an icon. Unless you explicitly select the icon and confirm the security notice, it remains inactive and has no access to your data or projects.
But even if you do use Luna, you are always in charge and have full control. We forward data to the AI system in pseudonymised form. So it doesn’t know who you are or which project you’re working on. We make sure of that. Unless you write sensitive, confidential or personal data directly into your Luna chat, the AI system won’t find out about it.
But that’s not all. You can watch Luna think, follow the thought processes, and it’ll ask for your permission before making any changes to the project. Whenever our AI assistant provides instructions or help regarding ELITECAD, it gives you direct links to the source of its answer, so you can check with a single click where the result comes from and whether the answer is correct.

How does Luna get to the answers?
Luna thinks and acts in a way you can see
Luna figures out how to reach a solution on its own. Our experts have equipped the AI assistant in ELITECAD with a wealth of knowledge and information, which it draws upon depending on the task at hand. To help you understand what Luna is thinking and doing, you’ll see text in different colours in the chat window.
Depending on how complex your question or project is, Luna may need a little more or a little less time to think. Sometimes it may involve a lot of thought and tool requests, whilst at other times you won’t even have time to take a sip of your drink before the answer is ready.

Depending on how complex your question or project is, Luna may need a little more or a little less time to think. Sometimes it may involve a lot of thought and tool requests, whilst at other times you won’t even have time to take a sip of your drink before the answer is ready.
How fast and how good is Luna?
The well-known dilemma: speed versus quality
We all know how it is. When something needs to be done very quickly, quality can suffer. We might overlook something, fail to consider all angles, or make mistakes due to rushing. It’s much the same with artificial intelligence. The first output might be incorrect or incomplete.
This is where 'reasoning' comes into play. Reasoning is a process of critical analysis that requires a longer processing time in order to ensure the quality of the results. The AI in ELITECAD is set to the highest reasoning level by default. Depending on the given task and/or the complexity of the project, this can mean that Luna’s responses take a while, especially if the AI is considering multiple paths to the solution and trying to find the best result for you. You can use this time productively for another task, a phone call or an email, for example.
Or you can also speed up Luna by lowering her reasoning level in the settings (the gear icon at the top of Luna’s chat window). But be careful, this may affect the quality of the results!

Although your input is transferred to external AI services (known as Large Language Models, or LLMs) for processing, it is processed in a pseudonymised form. This means that we do not pass on any personal data, customer numbers or office names to the AI model, but only key parameters required to correctly match the relevant query with the corresponding result.
Usage is also logged on secure EU servers operated by XEOMETRIC. Based on ELITECAD’s licensing data, the software manufacturer XEOMETRIC is able to match individual queries to licences and thus to their holders. This is important, amongst other things, to prevent misuse of the free beta testing phase. However, server access is restricted to authorised staff to ensure the smooth running of the service and to improve it.
Depending on which AI system is used as the basis for Luna, data may also be transferred outside the EU, for example to the USA. Please also refer to the following sections in the AI FAQ for details on the test phase and what happens next.

This means you’ll receive an AI integration that has already been pre-tested and fine-tuned. Nevertheless, we’re constantly expanding the features, learning from user feedback, and working out the details for fair packages that you’ll be able to add as an optional AI module to ELITECAD in the future. The beta testing phase is designed to be long-term yet will be limited in its duration. The beta testing phase is expected to end mid-2027 (subject to change) with advance notice provided in good time so you can switch to the future AI module if you want to. In each individual project, a maximum of 1,000,000 tokens per licence and calendar month are allocated, of which up to 25% may be used for image generation. If the limits are exceeded or the system is misused, we may temporarily suspend the AI integration for all licences or permanently suspend it for specific licences. We also reserve the right to change the budget and token limits at any time after the start of the beta testing phase. During the test phase, transmission and processing take place in joint projects according to licence type. Personalisation of Luna is therefore not yet possible at this stage; the context is lost after each programme restart. This means that every time ELITECAD is restarted during the beta test phase, the knowledge from previous conversations is reset. You can find a small, temporary workaround for this issue under ‘Can I personalise the AI assistant in ELITECAD?’.

We have equipped Luna with a wealth of information and knowledge sources, and by default we have set it to question its own approaches and results (a process known as reasoning). As a result, it may sometimes take a little while for the AI assistant to provide an answer, but this significantly improves the quality of the result.
Despite all precautions and care, Luna may still make mistakes. Please therefore always check AI responses and, particularly for important topics or complex tasks, critically review the AI’s result.

The use of AI requires computing power and therefore energy. We are well aware of this. At the same time, we see significant potential in what AI enables in day-to-day planning: less manual work, fewer iterations, fewer errors. If you can reach well-informed decisions more quickly, you save time, resources and often materials within the project itself. It makes a huge difference whether AI is used for CAD assistance and to highlight possibilities in the model, or for a recipe search or the local weather forecast.
We take care to use AI in a targeted and meaningful way. Luna supports you precisely where it brings real added value, rather than running constantly in the background. You decide when and for what you use it.
