From the point cloud to the 3D model:
Innovative technologies for 3D as-built surveys at the cutting edge
In September 2024, XEOMETRIC organised two successful events on the topic of Scan2Model together with its cooperation partners GeoLanes and FARO. Both events focussed on digital as-built surveys, but using different technologies.
The workshop with GeoLanes demonstrated the use of drone technology to create precise point clouds from the air, which were used for further processing into 3D models. In the subsequent webinar, FARO presented its laser scanning technology, which also generates detailed point clouds for high-precision 3D data acquisition. In both cases, ELITECAD was then used to efficiently convert the point clouds into digital models.
With over 200 registrations in total, the events met with lively interest and offered participants valuable insights into the versatile possibilities of modern 3D capture technologies and their integration with ELITECAD - and impressively illustrated the future of 3D as-built surveys.
